Beautiful photo. I enjoy it. It however intrigues me. I am curious to know what these excellencies said when Tamil community delegation asked (1) "Why did you (Britain) block the resolution brought by Mexico in the UN Security Council against Sri Lankan regime over gross crimes committed in NFZ just before the final onslaught citing <<Government of Sri Lanka is fighting an organization we (Britain) categorize as a terrorist organization?>> And had you (Britain) not done that things would have been different" (b) "Will you help Tamil Nation save the lives of 10,000 separated out young women and men who are currently kept in various secret venues and whose lives are in severe danger as confirmed by General Sarath Fonseka in his speech in a Buddhist Temple in Washington saying these elements should be destroyed? (c) " Will you help Tamil Nation by way of negotiating with the Sri Lankan regime to come out with a realistic and expedited plan to resettle displaced Tamil people who are being incarcerated in military run camps?" (d) "Will you help Tamil nation by way of putting pressure on Sri Lankan regime to stop mass colonization plans in the making in the guise of converting large areas of the homeland to free trade zones? (e) "Will you help Tamil Nation by blocking future financial facilities to the Sri lankan regime by IMF of which you (Britain) one of two biggest stakeholders as IMF just released USD 349.4 m loan to Sri Lanka) and by linking any economic assistance to assurance of human rights in future to Sri Lanka's citizenry (f) "When are you (Britain) planning to initiate leveling war crime and crime against humanity charges against the Sri Lankan regime" (g) Will you help Tamil Nation by granting asylum in the United Kingdom to the Tamil refugees who flee Sri Lanka
Excellent questions. Especially in light of today's report in the Sydney Morning Herald where it is claimed Des Browne "expressed strong support for the Aust. Govt's position on asylum seekers," and said, "it was important to get the message back to SL that those who risked the dangerous voyage to Aust were likely to be sent home. 'We take the view that it is safe to return people, including Tamils, to SL' "
